Natural products expert to approach TM/botanical safety
Dr. Ikhlas Khan, director of the National Center for Natural Products Research, director of the Food and Drug Administration's Center of Excellence, research professor and professor of pharmacognosy at the National Center for Natural Products Research at the University of Mississippi, will give the Population Health Grand Rounds presentation, "Multidisciplinary Approaches in Assuring the Quality, Safety and Efficacy of TM/Botanicals," from noon-1 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 30, in the fourth floor conference room in the Guyton Research Center.

Physiology instructor to talk HTN, autoimmunity dysfunction
Dr. Erin Taylor, instructor in physiology and biophysics, will present the Department of Physiology and Biophysics seminar, "The Role of Immune System in the Development of Hypertension and Vascular Dysfunction in Autoimmunity," from noon-1 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 30, in room CW308 of the Classroom Wing.

Mayo Clinic well-being director to describe culture creation
Beth Riley, director of employee well-being and director of the Dan Abraham Health Living Center at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota, will give the UMMC Office of Wellbeing-sponsored presentation, "Creating a Culture of Well-being at the Mayo Clinic," from noon-1 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 5, in lecture hall 124 of the medical education building.
Riley will provide information on the history of the program at the Mayo Clinic; core programs and services; and how they are measuring the impact on the culture.

LSU nutrition chair to discuss how to tip obesity's scale
Dr. John P. Kirwan, executive director and George A. Bray Jr. Endowed Super Chair in Nutrition and professor and director of the Integrated Physiology and Molecular Metabolism Laboratory at the Pennington Biomedical Research Center, Louisiana State University, will present “Tipping the Scale on Obesity and Type 2 Diabetes – Knife, Fork or Sneakers,” at noon on Thursday, Feb. 7 in room CW308 of the Classroom Wing.
The presentation is sponsored by the Mississippi Center for Obesity Research, the Mississippi Center for Clinical and Translational Research and the Cardiorenal and Metabolic Diseases Research Center.
